News & Updates
Thank you to everyone who donated items, money, and time to our Annual Rock ‘N Roll Jamboree yesterday afternoon! Together, we were able to raise approximately $2,400 for Relay for Life and our Elder Vacation to Washington, D.C.!
“When it comes to Quality of Life, we do things a little differently around here.” While regular outings and our Elder Vacation are the norm around here, last night one of our nurses was able to take “differently” a little further. All of us here at Signature HealthCARE of Monroe County would like to say a special thank you to nurse Stacy Parnell, and her husband Greg, for living this ideal by taking one of our Elders, Dennis Gentry, to a University of Kentucky game last night! Dennis had a fantastic time last night with dinner at Hooter’s and watching a winning UK Game! Stacy and Dennis just showed how together we make a family here at Signature HealthCARE of Monroe! #SHCJOY #SignatureNation
Staff and elders at Signature HealthCARE of Monroe County are celebrating this week. They achieved the industry milestone of being added to the Eden Alternative Registry.
Cancer has touched all of us in some way, and we want to stop this disease in its tracks. That’s why we Relay… because, when you Relay, you help save lives. This year’s event theme was “Once Upon A Cure” which meant that there were a great deal of princesses present at the event. However, Signature HealthCARE of Monroe County went a different Disney direction with a Lilo & Stitch theme.
One of the main themes of the movie centers around the word “Ohana.” Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. We wanted to say that this community is our family and that we are here if anyone should need us. Our event site was centered around the beach/Hawaiian theme of the movie, but we made sure to put some good tips in there as well such as use sunscreen, get cancer screenings, and live happy.

On Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017, one of our elders, David Barnett, was part of an amazing spiritual experience at Signature HealthCARE of Monroe County! David was baptized last night by Brother Tim McHenry and became a member of Mt. Gilead Church of Christ. Those of us present were blessed to witness his baptism, and, as you can see from pictures, it took family, friends, and Stakeholders!
Signature HealthCARE’s official Spring Break Day on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 was a huge success!!! Spring Break Day is a “one day, fun-filled event for all the residents to get out and explore their inner youth,” and Signature HealthCARE of Monroe County’s Elders decided that they wanted to do it Carnival Style!
There were games for Elders and Stakeholders to play such as ring toss, bowling, plinko, blackjack, and marshmallow therapy, music playing, and tons of food. During their break from games, Elders were chowing down on hot dogs, popcorn, ice cream, and other delicious goodies.
